Wine Trail Tourism in Southern Illinois

Came across a very interesting article summarizing the findings of a study on tourism specifically relating to the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail here in Southern Illinois.  It presents a fair amount of information, and might be useful to those seeking to increase tourism in the area.

The Edition at 315

We attended a meeting of the River to River Visual Arts Association last night.  We will shortly be making an official announcement of a new art show to be held this fall in conjunction with Union County's Colorfest celebration.  The show will be held at The Edition at 315, an event center in Anna, Illinois, near the junction of I-57 and Rt. 146.  This beautiful site promises to be a perfect setting for the show we are planning.  Interested artists are urged to contact me or another member of the RRVAA, and The Edition's owner, Rob Haas, says that people are welcome to drop in and take a look for themselves.

We envision an upper-end art and fine craft show, highlighting the best artists in Southern Illinois.  Spaces will be available indoors and out, with food, music, and ample parking.  We expect to have the application available in a couple of months, and are looking at an application deadline in July.

Anyone interested is encouraged to contact me for more information, and of course, I will be posting details here and on our Facebook page as they become finalized.

The RRVAA meets the second Thursday of every month, and we always welcome new members.

River to River Visual Arts Association Newsletter

A new edition of the monthly River to River Visual Arts Association newsletter is out. Sharon Wittke has done a great job of compiling information about the arts in Southern Illinois as well as a list of upcoming art events in the area.  This is a new arts group in the area, of which Ruth & John are members.  The mission statement for the group states that:
"The mission of the River to River Visual Arts Association is to recognize and promote visual artists living and working in region of southernmost Illinois through educational programming, and to advocate for the economic and cultural value to the region that the creative sector provides."

This group meets the second Thursday of each month in Cobden.  We are planning a new art show in October.  More details will becoming as they are finalized.

Those interested in joining this group are free to drop me a line for more information.  New members are always welcome.
